Privacy policy

This policy explains what personal information owo collects through owo.quebec and through your owo account, the account shared by all owo apps, why, and what your rights are, in accordance with Québec's Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector (Law 25).

Who is responsible

owo.quebec is the website of owo, a business based in Québec City, Québec, Canada, which designs and publishes the owo apps.

owo is responsible for the personal information collected by this site and by your owo account, and protects it.

Your owo account

The owo account is a single account for all owo apps. You sign in with Google or with a link sent by email; there is no password.

The account contains:

• your email address;
• your first name or name (optional) and your profile picture (optional, provided by Google if you sign in with Google);
• your preferred language and your acceptance of the terms;
• the owo apps you have used: the one where you signed up and the date of your last visit to each.

This information is shared by all owo apps. What you do in an app (your content, your purchases) stays with that app and is described in its own policy.

The owo apps

Your owo account gives you access to these apps:

Each app describes, in its own policy, what it collects in addition to the owo account.

What owo.quebec collects

• Your messages: what you write to us by email.
• Usage statistics: events (e.g. "a film was viewed" or "a film was liked", counted per film), without your name or email. When you are signed in, they are linked to your account by an internal identifier; that link is removed when you delete your account.
• Visit statistics, if you accept them: with Google Analytics, pages viewed, referrer, device type and approximate location, tied to a pseudonymous identifier (see the cookie policy).

Why

To create and secure your account, run the service, answer your questions, prevent abuse and improve the service. We do not sell your information and do not use it for targeted advertising.

Cookies

We use essential cookies (your sign-in session, your cookie choice). Only with your consent, we also use Google Analytics to measure traffic; it is off by default and you can withdraw your consent at any time. Details are in our cookie policy.

Who has access

Only the people on our team who need it, and our providers, who process data for us and according to our instructions:

• Hosting and database: Vercel and Supabase.
• Email (sign-in links, notices): Resend.
• Audience measurement: Google Analytics, if you accepted it.
• Home page fonts and libraries: Google Fonts and jsDelivr, which receive your IP address to serve the files.

Some of these providers may store data outside Québec; we then assess that the protection offered is adequate, as required by Law 25.

How long

• Your owo account is kept until you delete it.
• When you delete it, it is erased from all owo apps, along with what you created there.
• A record of the deletion (your email address, the date and the reason given, if any) is kept in our administration log, to prove that the deletion was made.
• Google Analytics visit statistics are kept for 14 months.

Your rights

At any time, you can:

• access the information we hold about you and get a copy;
• have it corrected if it is inaccurate;
• have it deleted: deleting the account is done directly from My account and applies to all owo apps;
• withdraw your consent and request the portability of your data in a structured format.

To exercise these rights, write to our privacy officer (below). We answer within 30 days. If you are not satisfied, you can file a complaint with the Commission d'accès à l'information du Québec.
